1-1. Guide to Writing Messages

Choose the message type that best fits your content and compose your message. The Quiz Message format is now available, allowing for more interactive engagement with friends.

❶ Quiz Messages A chat bubble format designed to boost engagement with friends. Supports 2 to 4 answer choices.

➋ Creating a Premium Video Message A Premium Video Message features a message bubble where the attached video plays automatically. (Playback may vary depending on KakaoTalk settings) Supports one video, one cover image, up to 76 characters of text, and one message button.

➐ Creating a Carousel Feed A Carousel Feed delivers diverse content in a feed-style message bubble. Supports up to 6 items, each with up to 180 characters of text. Each item supports one image and two message buttons.

Recently Sent Messages Access up to two recently sent messages and copy them to create a new message. Only messages with "Sent" status are displayed. Check other statuses in the Message List.

Draft Messages Access up to two recently saved draft messages. Resume editing and sending saved drafts.

All Messages List Click "All Messages" to view the complete list. Filter messages by status, type, and date in the Message List.

1-2. Guide on Message Fee

Send messages tailored to your audience using General Messages or Targeted Messages.

  • General Message : Sent to all friends or targeted by country/OS (KRW 15 per message, VAT excluded)

  • Targeted Message : Sent to specific audiences based on gender and age (KRW 20 per message, VAT excluded)

To prevent messages from failing due to insufficient balance and to help you manage your budget, the system deducts the full estimated cost upfront based on the number of recipients. Once the messages are sent, any unused balance from undelivered messages is refunded. (Final settlement takes about an hour, and refunds can be checked afterward). 2. Writing a Message

2-1. Creating a Quiz Message

Quiz Messages promote active participation, enhancing engagement. Users engage with the message twice—first when answering the quiz and again when reviewing the explanation.

Message Type Messages containing advertising content must comply with KISA guidelines. Quiz Messages are automatically categorized as advertisements.

Customer Support Contact All messages, whether promotional or informational, must include a customer support contact information. Go to Settings to add a phone number or address. Once saved, this information is displayed at the top of the chatroom and in the Home Tab's Basic Information Card.

Quiz Question Each Quiz Message must include a question, with a maximum of 36 characters. Text is center-aligned and will automatically break into lines if necessary.

Image Images are optional, and no default image is provided. - Recommended image size: 800 × 400 px - Supported file formats: JPG, PNG (max 10MB)

Answer Choices 2 to 4 answer choices can be selected. Select the correct answer using the round button (◯) next to each choice.

Hint Button A Hint Button is mandatory and can be set to Link, Update, or Manual Input. Links cannot be included. To include a link, use the Message Button instead.

Explanation & Rewards This is optional, and only one shared explanation can be provided. Maximum length: 130 characters, with up to one line break. If "None" is selected, no rewards will be provided for correct or incorrect answers.

Correct Answer Rewards & Incorrect Answer Rewards Rewards are available only if "Explanation & Rewards" is enabled. Displayed as a Coupon Highlight Button, with one coupon per message. If a correct answer reward is offered, an incorrect answer reward may also be provided. However, incorrect answer rewards cannot be given alone.

2-2. Creating a Premium Video Message

A Premium Video Message features a message bubble where the attached video plays automatically. (Playback may vary depending on KakaoTalk settings) This format is optimized for advertising, and attaching one video is required.

Message Type Messages containing advertising content must comply with KISA guidelines. Messages containing advertising content must be checked as advertisement.

Attaching Videos A video is required and will play automatically in the chatroom.

  • Only videos uploaded to KakaoTV as VOD or Live content can be attached. (Age-restricted LIVE broadcasts, "tough broadcasts," and password-protected live streams are not supported)

  • For better promotional impact, disconnect your KakaoTV-linked Talk Channel before attaching a LIVE video. If your Talk Channel is linked to KakaoTV, disconnect it before use.

    To disconnect, go to KakaoTV > Channel Management > Click "Edit" > Turn off the Kakao Talk Channel setting

  • Recommended video ratios: 2:1 (landscape) to 9:16 (portrait).

  • Landscape videos are supported up to 2:1, while portrait videos are recommended up to 9:16. Full-screen display may vary by device.

  • Videos exceeding these ratios may be cropped. Use Test Send to check for any content loss before sending.

  • A cover image can be set as the chat bubble thumbnail. (Supported file formats: JPG, JPEG, PNG (max 10MB))

Title Maximum: 20 characters

Message Button Maximum: 76 characters Links cannot be included. To include a link, use the Message Button instead.

Message Button

  • Button names: max 8 characters

  • Supported link types: Post, Coupon, Link, or Business Form

  • Select "Load Post or Coupon" to attach an existing post or coupon. (Private posts cannot be attached.)

  • Before sending, use 'Verify Link' to ensure accuracy.

2-3. Creating a Basic Text Message

Use this format for messages with longer text content. Attach one file (image or video) and set the Message Button to link to a Post, Coupon, Link, Music, or Business Form.

➊ Load Previous Message Load a previously sent message, edit content, and resend.

Message Type Messages containing advertising content must comply with KISA guidelines. Messages containing advertising content must be checked as advertisement.

Customizing the Message Use default images to customize the message even uploading your own. Supported file formats: JPG, PNG (max 10MB) When a video is attached, a playback link is automatically inserted. Tapping the video area plays the attached video directly within the chatroom.

Content You can enter up to 400 characters. Links cannot be included. (Limit reduced to 300 characters if an image/video is attached)

❻ Preview A reference image previews the message layout, but the final appearance may vary on mobile devices.

❼ Message Button

You can attach up to two links, choosing from Post, Coupon, Link, Music, or Business Form. Business Forms can only be linked to Button 2.

  • You can attach both uploaded and scheduled posts or coupons. (Private posts cannot be attached.)

  • Check the scheduled date carefully before attaching a scheduled post. If the message is sent before the post is uploaded, the link will not work.

  • Attaching a Message-Only Card View Post directs users straight to the Card Viewer instead of the post details page. (Learn Morearrow-up-right)

  • Users with a Melon subscription can listen to the full track, while non-subscribers get a 1-minute preview directly in the chatroom.

❽ Coupon Highlight Button Use this feature to highlight coupon benefits. The coupon description can be up to 12 characters long. Attach up to five Channel Coupons from the Channel Admin Center and up to five Talk Store Coupons from Talk Store. Share Button The Share Button feature effectively increases your number of friends. Recipients can share the message with their KakaoTalk friends using the provided link.

2-4. Creating a Wide Image Message

A Wide Message Bubble exclusive to KakaoTalk Channels. This format is optimized for content-focused messages, and attaching one video is required.

Message Type Messages containing advertising content must comply with KISA guidelines. Messages containing advertising content must be checked as advertisement.

2-5. Creating a Wide List Message

The Wide List Message bubble allows you to send multiple types of content at once. You can add a minimum of 3 and maximum of 4 items under a single title.

➌ Title

  • Enter a main title that represents all listed content.

  • Maximum: 20 characters

  • The title automatically links to the first item in the list.

List 1–3 (Required)

  • Each list item consists of an image or video, description, and a link.

  • At least three list items (List 1–3) are required.

  • The first list item has a larger image display, making it ideal for key content.

  • If a video is included, a KakaoTV link will be automatically inserted, enabling direct playback within the chatroom.

List 4 (Optional) List 4 is optional.

Message Button

  • Button names: max 8 characters

  • You can attach one link from Post, Coupon, Link, or Business Form.

  • Select "Load Post or Coupon" to attach an existing post or coupon. (Private posts cannot be attached.)

  • If attaching a link, make sure to check its accuracy with "Verify Link" before sending.

Message Type All Carousel Commerce messages are categorized as advertisements due to its nature.

Customer Support Contact All messages, whether promotional or informational, must include a customer support contact information. Go to Settings to add a phone number or address. Once saved, this information is displayed at the top of the chatroom and in the Home Tab's Basic Information Card.

➌ Intro

  • The Intro consists of an image, title, description, and link.

  • It is optional and can be enabled or disabled using the checkbox in the upper-right corner.

  • If enabled, the image, title, and description fields must be filled in.

  • Recommended image size is 800 x 1100 px Supported file formats: JPG, PNG (max 10MB)

  • Title limit: 20 characters / Description limit: 50 characters

  • Clicking the Intro bubble redirects users to the specified URL.

Carousel

  • The Carousel consists of an image, product name, price, and link.

  • At least two message bubbles are required. You can set it as one Intro + one Product Carousel or two Product Carousels.

  • If using an Intro, up to seven message bubbles can be created; otherwise, up to six can be added.

  • Talk Store and Talk Checkout-integrated channels can conveniently import product details,

  • while non-integrated channels can manually register products using Direct Input.

Image

  • Each carousel must include one image.

  • Recommended image size: 800 x 800 px

  • Supported file formats: JPG, PNG (max 10MB)

Product Name, Price, Link

  • Product Name, Price, and Link are required.

  • Product names can contain up to 20 characters.

  • Prices must be whole numbers between KRW 1 and KRW 99,999,999.

  • If both original and discounted prices are entered, the discount percentage is calculated automatically.

  • Clicking "Buy Now" directs users to the specified URL.

  • The Coupon Highlight Button allows a 12-character description and links to a user-defined URL.

    A Coupon Highlight Button can be set for each carousel.

  • The "Talk Store Coupon" of Coupon Highlight option is only available for channels linked to Talk Store. (The Talk Store Coupon option is only available for channels linked to Talk Store)

➐ More Button Clicking "More" on the rightmost carousel directs users to an attached post, coupon, or link. Talk Store and Talk Checkout-integrated channels support linking to Store Home and Catalog View.

Share Button The Share Button feature effectively increases your number of friends. Recipients can easily share the message with their KakaoTalk friends via the provided link.

Carousel

A carousel consists of an image, title, content, message button, and More button. Carousel 1 and 2 are required fields, and you can create up to six message bubbles.

Image

Each carousel must include one image.

  • Recommended image size: 800 x 600 px / 800 x 400 px.

  • Supported file formats: JPG, PNG (max 10MB)

Title

This field is mandatory and can be entered up to 20 characters.

Content

This field is mandatory and can be entered up to 180 characters. Links cannot be included. To include a link, use the Message Button instead.

➐ Message Button

  • Button names: max 8 characters

  • Message Button 1 is required, while Message Button 2 is optional.

  • You can attach up to two links, selecting from Post, Coupon, Link, Business Form, or Share.

  • Business Form and Share can only be assigned to Message Button 2.

  • ‘Select "Load Post or Coupon" to attach an existing post or coupon. (Private posts cannot be attached.)

  • Before sending, use 'Verify Link' to ensure accuracy.

Coupon Highlight Button

  • Use this feature to highlight coupon benefits.

  • The coupon description can be up to 12 characters long.

More Button

Displays as an arrow button on the rightmost carousel. You can attach one link from Post, Coupon, or Link.

2-8. Linking a Business Form

Linking a Business Form to a message button allows channel friends to easily participate in events through received messages.

➊ Linking a Business Form You can load and link a Business Form created in Kakao Business > Business Formarrow-up-right.

➋ Business Form Link Requirements

  • The channel sending the message must be a Business Channel.

  • The Business Channel and Business Form must have the same business registration number.Only a Business Form-authorized administrator (based on account permissions) can link a form when sending a message.

  • The Kakao account that created the Business Form must be an administrator in the Channel Admin Center.

  • If Advanced Settings > Add Kakao Talk Channel is enabled when registering a Business Form, the form can only be selected on the linked channel.

  • Only Business Forms with the status "Completed" or "Active Period Started" can be loaded. (Forms are only visible before the end date.)

Button Display Conditions When using the Share button with Wide Image or Wide List formats, the Business Form button will appear gray instead of highlighted yellow. Business Form buttons are not displayed on PC.

3. Settings for Sending Messages

3-1. Target Settings

After message creation, configure the necessary settings for sending. You can define the target audience, disabling push notifications, or distributing messages gradually.

❶ Age-Verification Settings

  • Messages will remain hidden until age verification is complete. Only users aged 20 and older can view the content.

  • If the content is suitable only for adults, this option must be selected.

  • Messages containing restricted material as per the Channel Operation Guidearrow-up-right cannot be sent.

  • If age verification is not applied, service restrictions may be imposed based on operational policies.

  • The number of recipients who can view an age-verified message may be lower than the estimated audience.

❷ Target Settings

  • To Send by Specific Groups

    Send messages to a selected group created in Friend Group Management. (KRW 20 per message (excluding VAT))

  • To Exclude Specific Groups

    Send messages to all friends except for a selected group from Friend Group Management. (KRW 20 per message (excluding VAT))

  • To Send by Country

    Send messages only to friends in selected countries. 'At least one country must be selected for the message to be sent. (KRW 15 per message (excluding VAT))

  • To Send by OS

    Send messages only to iPhone users or only to Android users. (KRW 15 per message (excluding VAT))

  • To Send By Gender or Age

    Send messages to specific demographics such as men, women, teens, or users in their 20s. (KRW 20 per message (excluding VAT))

  • To Send by Talk Checkout Channels

    Send messages based on purchase history for Talk Checkout-connected channels. (KRW 20 per message (excluding VAT))

  • If all target audience settings are set to "All," the message is classified as a general message. (KRW 15 per message (excluding VAT))

3-2. Sending Time & Message Volume Settings

After message creation, configure the necessary settings for sending. You can define the target audience, disabling push notifications, or distributing messages gradually.

➊ Sending Time Send messages immediately or schedule them for a specific time. The message start and end times displayed in the Channel Admin Center follow the OS time settings of the administrator's PC.

  • If "Send this message to newly added friends" is selected, an end time can be set. This feature automatically sends the message to newly added friends until the scheduled end time.

    • The start time can be scheduled up to 31 days in advance.

    • This feature cannot be used if more than two friend groups are selected, a friend group is both included and excluded,

Message Volume Settings

  • The total message volume is calculated as the sum of the number of target friends at the time of registration plus the additional messages sent. The expected number of new friends must be entered for cost calculation.

    • This setting is not required when using Message Credits.

  • If the additional message volume reaches the set limit before the scheduled end time, message sending will automatically stop. Set the additional message volume based on your planned budget.

3-3. Detailed Settings

After message creation, configure the necessary settings for sending. You can define the target audience, disabling push notifications, or distributing messages gradually.

➊ Total Sending Cost The total cost is calculated by multiplying the cost per message (based on target settings) by the total number of recipients, including additional messages if "Send messages to new friends" is selected. VAT (10%) is included in the total amount.

In the Balance Info, check the current cash balance and the remaining balance after sending. If there is insufficient cash to register the message for sending, a "Recharge" button will be displayed.

Detailed Settings

  • Disable Push Notifications : Sends the message without a KakaoTalk push notification. If push notifications are too frequent,the number of friends may decrease, so use this feature appropriately.

  • Distributed Sending : By default, messages are sent to all recipients at once. If the linked webpage cannot handle a large number of visitors at once, enable Distributed Sending. When enabled, messages are sent at a rate of 100 per second. (Note: If a channel has 3 million friends, sending with Distributed Sending enabled will take over 8 hours.)

Go to Previous Step Returns to the message creation step while keeping the current settings.

➍ Upload Sends or schedules the message based on the configured settings.

3-4. Test Messages

Enter a phone number that is friends with the channel to send a test message. Before sending, check how the message appears on mobile and verify that attached links work properly across different OS and devices.

➊ Important Notes for Test Messages Videos, scheduled posts, and coupons are only made public at the actual message-sending time. In a test message, they function as follows in the chatroom:

  • Video : Displays "This video is private" in the player. To check playback in KakaoTalk, set the video to public on KakaoTV.

  • Scheduled Post : Clicking the link button will not redirect users to the post.

  • Coupons : Clicking "Receive Coupon" will display a placeholder serial number (0000-0000-0000). This also applies to coupons included in a card-view post. Since this is not an actual coupon redemption, the "Receive Coupon" button will reappear when the page is revisited.

4. Welcome Message

When a KakaoTalk user adds your channel as a friend, an automated welcome message will be sent. Customize it with a greeting and a brief introduction to your channel.

Select Message

  • Load a previously created welcome message. (Welcome messages linked to Talk Business Cards cannot be loaded.)

  • Selecting "Create New" resets the existing content, allowing you to create a new welcome message.

Attach Content

  • You can attach an image or video to the welcome message.

  • Recommended image size: 800 × 400 px Supported file formats: JPG, PNG (max 10MB)

  • The welcome message can be registered without attached content.

➌ Content (Advertisement)

  • When a user adds your channel, a channel add confirmation message and the welcome message are sent separately.

  • The confirmation message includes a notification, in accordance with KISA guidelines, informing users that they will receive messages after adding the channel. It also displays the date and time the friend was added and provides instructions on how to opt out. This content cannot be modified.

  • The welcome message can contain up to 400 characters.

  • If a user adds the channel between 8:55 PM and 8 AM, only the confirmation message is sent immediately. The welcome message is delivered at 8 AM the next day.

Buttons

  • You can add up to two buttons linking to a Post, Coupon, Link, or Channel Home Landing in the welcome message.

  • The welcome message can be sent without buttons.

Default Language Settings

  • Set the language for the channel add confirmation message.

  • The language is available in Korean, English, and Japanese.

  • The message is sent in the language selected by the administrator, regardless of the recipient’s device settings.

  • The welcome message does not support automatic translation.

5. Message List

View all created messages by status and time period. Click a message to open its details page, where you can edit draft messages or check statistics for sent messages.

➊ Search Conditions Filter messages by sending status, message type, or registration date. To search for specific content within a message, enter a keyword and click the search button on the right.

➋ Message List

  • Initial Registration Date : The date the message was registered

  • Message Type : Displays the selected message type

  • Message Content : Shows the entered content and thumbnail previews of attached images/videos

  • Sending Time / End Date : Displays the scheduled sending time and set end date of the message

  • Total Messages Sent : Shows the number of messages sent based on the current status (includes free messages)

  • Free Messages Sent : Displays the number of messages sent using free message credits

  • Status : Indicates the current message sending status

6. Message Details

Check the detailed content and current status of a message. If the message can be edited, an Edit button will appear at the bottom right.

Details

View the message's details and its configured settings. Click "Message Sending Statistics" to check delivery performance.

History

Review modification history and sending records for this message. (Available only for messages sent after the Welcome Message Beta launch on August 23, 2022.) The three most recent records are displayed. Click "More" to view the full history.

➌ Edit Button

Modify the message if any settings were entered incorrectly. Edits cannot be made for messages that have already been sent or are restricted. However, edits can be made if a message in progress is stopped. (Message content and end date can be modified. The end date must be within 31 days from the start date.)

7. Channel Message Execution Guide

When sending message advertisements using the Kakao Talk Channel service, you must comply with the Channel Message Execution Guide.

7-1. Message Execution Standards and Sending Guidelines

  1. Message Execution Standards

    1. You must comply with the relevant laws in the Information and Communications Network Act guidelines distributed by the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) to prevent illegal spam.

    2. Messages may only be sent if they adhere to applicable laws and the Channel Message Execution Guide.

    3. Certain messages may be restricted under the Channel Message Execution Guide and the operational policies and terms of each service.

    4. Message sending may be restricted if the message has the potential to become a social issue or receives user complaints.

    5. If a message requires legal pre-review, it must be sent as reviewed. Any disadvantages resulting from non-compliance with the guidelines are the responsibility of the sender.

  3. Messages promoting or facilitating pornography, adult entertainment, prostitution, or related services cannot be sent.

7-3. Violence, Hate, Fear & Profanity

  1. Messages that promote violence, murder, abuse, threats, or excessively disturbing content cannot be sent.

  2. Messages that encourage, promote, or imply violent or criminal acts cannot be sent.

  3. Messages containing unpleasant images such as filth, surgical procedures, or close-ups of body parts cannot be sent.

  4. Messages containing profanity, vulgar language, or offensive words cannot be sent.

7-4. False & Misleading Information

  1. Messages that contain false or excessively exaggerated content that hinders consumers’ rational decision-making cannot be sent.

  2. Messages that present false or unverified information as fact cannot be sent.

  3. Messages that omit important information or emphasize partial facts in a misleading manner cannot be sent.

  4. Messages that include expressions that may mislead internet users into believing that an event actually occurred cannot be sent.

  5. Messages that attract users with content unrelated to the advertiser (industry) or advertising purpose cannot be sent.

7-5. Violation of Others' Rights

  1. Messages that directly or indirectly reference individuals, including sensitive information about gender, race, ethnicity, religion, beliefs, age, sexual identity, or physical or mental disabilities, cannot be sent.

  2. Messages that may infringe upon an individual's privacy or personal freedom cannot be sent.

  3. Messages that infringe on intellectual property rights (e.g., patents, utility models, design rights, trademarks, copyrights) or violate portrait rights cannot be sent. Advertisers are responsible for understanding and complying with relevant laws and regulations. Any legal issues that arise are the responsibility of the advertiser.

  4. Messages that use the same or similar names, trademarks, service marks, or any other identifiers widely recognized in Korea, leading to confusion between different products or businesses, cannot be sent.

  5. Unauthorized use of currency designs is prohibited under the Copyright Act, and advertisers are legally responsible for any unauthorized use.

7-6. Misleading Expressions for Users (Consumers)

  1. Messages that are misleading or deceptive regarding ingredients, materials, content, specifications, or efficacy are not allowed.

  2. Messages that contain partially true information but may mislead internet users as a whole are not allowed.

  3. Messages that use unverified or unsupported superlative expressions are not allowed. 1) During monitoring or review, supporting documentation for superlative claims may be requested, and message delivery may be suspended if necessary.

  4. Messages that use complex technical terms to mislead or confuse internet users are not allowed.

  5. Messages that mislead internet users regarding the country of manufacture are not allowed.

  6. Messages that may mislead users into believing that an advertisement from a sales network or branch is directly from the headquarters are not allowed.

7-7. Price Display Standards

  1. According to the Fair Trade Commission’s Guidelines on Unfair Labeling and Advertising, messages containing the following types of price displays cannot be sent:

    1) Displaying or advertising a false previous selling price in comparison to the current selling price.

    2) Displaying or advertising discount rates inaccurately.

    3) Exaggerating discounts by advertising that most products are sold at high discount rates or low prices when only a few actually are.

    4) Misleading consumers into believing that a product is being sold at a special price for a limited time when there is no actual price change.

  2. When displaying prices or discount rates, the following details must be included in the message :

    1) Clearly indicate the specific product or service the displayed price or discount applies to.

    2) Explicitly state the product to which the displayed price or discount rate applies within the message.

  3. When displaying prices or discounts, only the base price of the product should be indicated. Messages cannot include prices for optional features or partial products.

    1) Only prices that apply uniformly to all users can be listed.

    2) Prices that apply only to specific users, such as coupon discounts or discounts for specific credit cards, cannot be listed as standard selling prices.

    3) If a discount price applies to all users without specific conditions, it may be displayed.

7-8. Event Content Criteria

  1. Messages that omit important event details while emphasizing selective facts to mislead users cannot be sent.

  2. When composing messages about events, details such as participation methods, prize selection methods, the number of winners, and prize information must be clearly stated.

7-9. Violation of Universal Social Norms

  1. Messages that undermine human dignity or violate public morals and social ethics cannot be sent.

  2. Messages that improperly use or defame national symbols, flags, or cultural heritage sites cannot be sent.

  3. Messages that promote gambling or excessive speculative behavior cannot be sent.

  4. Messages that encourage or justify superstitions, cult-like behavior, or other unscientific lifestyles cannot be sent.

  5. Messages that contain unverified health tips, supernatural healing methods, or pseudoscientific claims cannot be sent.

  6. Messages that discriminate based on gender, religion, disability, age, social status, region, or occupation, or that promote prejudice against these characteristics cannot be sent.

  7. Messages that promote, glorify, or encourage suicide cannot be sent.

  8. Messages that glorify crimes, criminals, or criminal organizations cannot be sent.

  9. Messages that mock or ridicule physical appearances, disabilities, or weaknesses cannot be sent.

  10. Messages that violate universal social norms or cause public confusion cannot be sent.

7-10. Youth Protection

  1. Messages containing harmful content for minors are not allowed pursuant to the Youth Protection Act.

    1) Adult video chat sites, companion services, and inappropriate phone services

    2) Game item trading intermediary sites

    3) Content or links providing access to sales sites containing adult products (5 types) classified as harmful to minors

    • Adult Products: Adult Products: Male enhancement devices, male training devices, male devices for female stimulation (e.g., special condoms), male masturbation devices, female masturbation devices

    4) Messages containing phone numbers, location details, website addresses, wireless internet locations, or email accounts for inappropriate phone services

    6) Even if a site is not officially classified as harmful, if it requires age verification or restricts access to minors, it is subject to youth protection regulations. However, content such as adult-rated games, movies, videos, music, webtoons, publications, and books may be sent if age verification measures are applied per company policies.

  2. Selling, renting, distributing, or exposing minors to harmful substances or products is not allowed pursuant to the Youth Protection Act.

    1) Alcohol, tobacco, drugs, hallucinogens (such as glue or butane gas), and other substances that may seriously harm minors are not allowed in messages.

    2) Public service announcements related to tobacco or controlled substances may be allowed with restrictions.

    3) In accordance with the Liquor E-Commerce Directive, messages related to alcoholic beverages is permitted on a limited basis for general advertising, such as brand promotion, provided that it is not intended for the sale, rental, or distribution of such products. (1) If alcohol is purchased online but picked up in-store, messages may only be sent through age-verified channels. (2) Traditional liquors approved for e-commerce may only be advertised through age-verified channels pursuant to the Liquor E-Commerce Directive. (3) Alcohol deliveries with prepared meals may only be advertised if age restrictions are applied per company guidelines pursuant to the Liquor E-Commerce Directive. (4) Tobacco and alcohol imagery cannot be included in messages. However, alcohol advertisements may be allowed with restrictions, and electronic cigarettes can only be advertised through age-verified channels.

  3. Messages containing harmful substances, products, or establishments for minors are not allowed.

  4. Messages that arouse sexual desire or encourage obscene behavior cannot be sent.

  5. Messages promoting obscenity, brutality, cruelty, or excessive gambling cannot be sent.

  6. Links containing adult content must have age-restriction measures. If the content is accessible without such measures, the message cannot be sent.

  7. Messages deemed harmful to minors based on Kakao’s internal guidelines cannot be sent.

7-11. Protection of Kakao Services

  1. Messages cannot be sent if they imitate or infringe on Kakao’s services and design.

    1) Content that could damage the image of Kakao services

    2) Unauthorized use of Kakao's logos, trademarks, service names, or copyrighted materials

    3) Content that may be mistaken for Kakao services

    (1) Using Kakao’s primary brand color as a key design element, causing confusion with Kakao services.

    (2) Inserting objects resembling Kakao’s logo in messages, making them appear as if they are from Kakao.

    (3) Using visuals similar to Kakao’s services in a way that makes the message seem like official Kakao content.

  2. Messages cannot be sent if they interfere with business operations.

    1) Violating or encouraging violations of Kakao’s Terms of Use or service policies for self-promotion or third-party advertising.

    2) Engaging in or encouraging actions that unfairly affect Kakao’s services in violation of laws, Kakao’s Terms of Use, or service policies.

7-12. Restricted Industries

  1. Illegal/Inappropriate Services

    1) Messages cannot be sent if they violate existing laws (e.g., Medical Service Act, Act on the Establishment and Operation of Private Teaching Institutes and Extracurricular Lessons, Act on Registration of Credit Business and Protection of Finance Users, Value-Added Tax Act, Act on the Consumer Protection Act in Electronic Commerce, Act on Business of Operating Indirect Investment and Assets).

    2) Messages about buying or selling online communities (e.g., cafés, clubs, blogs) on portal sites cannot be sent.

    3) Messages promoting public file-sharing sites for utilities, multimedia, or various programs are not allowed.

    4) Messages about services with gambling-like elements in their operations or sales practices are not allowed.

  2. Adult Content (Adult Broadcasting, Adult Communities, Adult Products, etc.) 1) Messages about adult-related services or similar information cannot be sent.

    2) Messages that encourage access to adult-related services or similar content are not allowed.

  3. Products Prohibited from Online Advertising, Sales, or Distribution by Law

    1) Messages cannot promote products prohibited from online advertising.

    Examples: Prescription and raw pharmaceuticals, tobacco, gambling-related content, prostitution, illegal gambling, etc.

    2) Messages cannot promote products that are prohibited from being sold online.

    Examples: Pharmaceuticals, alcohol, tobacco, prescription glasses and contact lenses, narcotics, pesticides, etc.

    3) Messages cannot promote products that are illegal or restricted from general distribution.

    Examples: Blood/blood certificates, military uniforms/equipment, wild flora and fauna, pornography, unapproved kitchen waste disposers, sample cosmetics, etc.

  4. Certain Financial Services

    1) Messages related to unregistered investment advisory, stock advisory, or securities information services that are not registered with the Financial Supervisory Service cannot be sent.

    2) Messages containing illegal loan services from unregistered companies or violating the Act on Registration of Credit Business and Protection of Finance Users by omitting critical information cannot be sent.

    3) Messages related to illegal financial activities such as fraudulent investment schemes, microtransactions, gift card trading, cash transactions, or unregulated financial services (i.e., loan businesses, loan brokerage, or similar internet lending services) cannot be sent.

    4) Other financial services that may potentially harm users are not allowed.

  5. Content Related to Restricted Games, Movies, Videos, and Age-Limited Media

    1) Messages promoting films or videos that have not been rated by the Korea Media Rating Board (KMRB) or are classified as "Restricted" or "Adults Only" cannot be sent. However, messages containing "Adults Only" content may be sent if age verification measures are applied according to company policies. 2) Messages promoting games that have not been rated by the Game Rating and Administration Committee (GRAC) or are classified as "Adults Only" cannot be sent. However, messages containing "Adults Only" games may be sent if age verification measures are applied according to company policies. 3) Messages containing content prohibited for minors pursuant to the Youth Protection Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection cannot be sent.   • When composing promotional or informational messages (including Info Talk) on Kakao Talk Channels, you must review the Channel Message Execution Guidearrow-up-right, the Info Talk Review Guidearrow-up-right, and message sending guidelines.

  • Violating these guidelines may result in temporary (at least 30 days) or permanent restrictions on message sending, as per KakaoTalk's channel service policies.

  • Messages that may cause social controversy or receive user complaints may be restricted.

8-2. Key Execution Guidelines for Channel Messages

  1. Messages must not contain any harmful content for minors. 1) Messages cannot promote harmful media, information, businesses, substances, or products for minors pursuant to the Youth Protection Act.

    2) Messages that promote or may be perceived as promoting obscenity, violence, cruelty, gambling, or sexual desire are not allowed.

    4) Sending messages about adult-only services to all age groups without setting age verification measures is not allowed.

    5) Messages containing harmful information for minors are not allowed.
