For Users Without Korean Business Registration Number, or for US-based business

  • If you do not have a Korean business registration number or a unique identification number, you can first create a general channel.

  • A general channel will display a notice indicating that business information has not been verified. Ensure you meet the requirements and submit the necessary documents to convert your channel into a business channel.

1. Sign up

➊ Sign Up for Kakao Business After logging in with your Kakao Account, the transition to a Kakao Business integrated membership must be completed to use Kakao Talk Channel. Existing channel administrators must also complete the transition process and agree to the updated terms of service.

➊ Name Enter a name using Korean, English, numbers, and periods (.) up to 10 characters. The name and phone number can be edited in account settings. If multiple administrators are managing a single channel, using real names is recommended for easier identification among team members.

➋ Phone Number Enter a phone number that can receive notifications via KakaoTalk. This number will only be used for essential notices related to the Kakao Talk Channel. To prevent spam, the same phone number can be verified up to five times per day. When registering with an international number, select the appropriate country code.

2. Create / Join

Create your business home on KakaoTalk for free! Start your Kakao Talk Channel today.

➊ Check for an Existing Business Channel Use your business information to see if a channel has already been created under your business name.

➋ Create New Channel If no existing channel is found, or if you wish to create a new one, click [+ Create New Channel].

➌ Requesting Permissions If a channel has already been created with your business information, you can request permission to access the existing channel. If an unrelated channel is impersonating your business, you may report the channel for fraud or identity misuse.

Entering Business Information

➊ Business Information The details associated with the registered business number will be displayed after searching. If the retrieved business information does not match the details on your business registration certificate, update the latest information in Kakao Business first. If you have a business registration number but no stored business information in Kakao, you can manually enter the details.

➋ Verifying Applicant Information Verify the relationship between the business owner listed on the business registration certificate (or unique identification certificate) and the applicant creating the channel. Prepare and submit the required documents based on the applicant's role. - Sole Proprietor (Business Owner): Business registration certificate (electronic document) - Corporate Business Owner: Business registration certificate (document), mobile phone verification of the representative - Employee: Business registration certificate (document), certificate of health insurance eligibility verification (electronic document), notification of qualification for health insurance (electronic document) - Agency Managing the Channel: Business delegation contract (document), advertiser's business registration certificate (document), agency's business registration certificate (document)

For electronic documents, issuance and submission can be completed during the business review application process. Supported file formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, and PDF, with a maximum file size of 100MB. Ensure that the submitted documents match the business information entered above. Check the Privacy Guide and mask any sensitive personal information before submitting documents. Verify that the resolution is sufficient and that no part of the image is cut off.

➌ Industry-Specific Licensing Documents If the business requires specific licensing or registration, attach the necessary documents. Supported file formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, and PDF, with a maximum file size of 10MB.

Entering Channel Details

➊ Profile Picture To ensure proper display on KakaoTalk, upload a profile picture with the recommended size of 640 x 640 px.

➋ Channel Name This is the name that appears on the channel home, Chats Tab, and chat windows. Use a name that closely matches your brand name. Allowed characters include Korean, English, numbers, and special characters (#!&?-_,.()).

➌ Search ID This ID helps users find your channel on KakaoTalk. Create a unique and easy-to-remember ID that distinguishes your channel from others.

➍ Category Selecting the correct category increases visibility to more users. Choose a category that best represents your channel.

➎ Preview Check how your channel will appear before finalizing the setup.

❻ Relationship Between the Channel and Business If the business name registered in your business information differs from the channel name, provide a reason and supporting documents. If available, attach reference materials such as photos of the store or ownership transfer documents. Supported file formats include JPG, JPEG, PNG, and PDF, with a maximum file size of 10MB.

❼ Categories to Review Ensure all information is entered correctly, then check the confirmation box.

➊ Invited Channels If you have been invited as a manager to an existing channel, you can accept or decline the invitation to participate in its management. You can manage up to 40 channels as a manager.

➋ Create New Channel A single administrator account can create up to 10 channels. Channels are initially set to private. When you are ready to make the channel public, go to Management > Settings > Home Visibility and set to ON.

➌ My Channels You can view all channels you have created or are currently managing. The list is arranged alphabetically, starting with the channels you created followed by the channels where you were invited as a manager.

3. Preparing for Launch

Your channel is now created and visible to all friends. Before fully launching operations, review the following steps and set up your channel properly.

STEP 1. Profile Details

Only the basic information has been used for your channel during creation. Once your setup is complete: Go to Profile > Channel Home Settings and enter detailed information to introduce your channel appropriately. Go to Profile > Profile Settings and set the Channel Visibility to ON.

STEP 2. Updating Welcome Message

When a KakaoTalk user adds your channel, an automated welcome message will be sent. To update this message, go to Messages > Welcome Message Settings and provide a brief introduction to your channel.

4. Managing Channels Across Different Platforms

Once your channel is set up and ready, you can easily manage it across multiple devices. In addition to the PC Admin Center, you can also create and manage your channel using the Channel Manager App and KakaoTalk.

4-1. PC Channel Admin Center

Monitor your channel’s status at a glance using the dashboard. You can manage Home and Profile settings, 1:1 chat, post creation and management, message delivery, and utilize business tools such as coupons and chatroom menus. The Statistics menu provides weekly data on profile views, number of friends, messages, posts, and chats, based on the previous day's data. The Management menu allows you to manage friend groups, invite administrators, and configure detailed settings.

5. Territory Rights Settings (For U.S. Businesses/Agencies Only)
